Fusing glass, sharing strength, giving hope: The Glass Ribbon Project

Strength Stones

Strength Stone

Strength Stones are symbolic, pink glass stones that are made by people touched by breast cancer. They are designed to provide a source of comfort to someone undergoing treatments. Cut from a larger sheet of glass mosaic, Strength Stones are collaboratively created by people who care about the fight to end breast cancer.

Typically, group members keep some of the Strength Stones from the sheet, and give the others to patients who can hold them while undergoing treatments, providing a physical reminder of support and community. Strength Stones can be created in a Glass Ribbon group art project by an organized group, such as a Sisterhood. It can also be a great activity for a more informal group of friends or a sports team to gather together to create Strength Stones to support a loved one undergoing treatment. A Glass Ribbon Project to create Strength Stones can also be a bar or bat mitzvah project for a family that has a friend or relative undergoing cancer treatments.

If you choose to create Strength Stones as part of a Glass Ribbon Project, we do require the purchase of the stones at the end. It costs $20 for a glass sheet that becomes four separate Strength Stones. Finished Strength Stones can also be purchased directly from us. Call us for quantity discounts. The same as any other Woman of Valor pieces, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Strength Stones is donated to Sharsheret. If your group creates Strength Stones in a Glass Ribbon Project, you can opt, instead, to have a donation made to a different cause close to your heart.
